hi folks, just had call from the doctor my blood results show i have dry kidney i have to drink more, i am a water drinker i dont drink coke or irn bru or any ginger im on
sulfasalazine 500mg also arcoxia 1 a day anyone else heard of this how much more do i need to drink sylvia xxx

I've never heard of this? How much water are you drinking a day roughly now? Things like cucumber and melon and lettuce may help as they consisit mainly of water.

hi julie, i drink about 4/5 pints water a day plus goodness knows how many cups of tea i drink plenty water always have bottles in fridge dont know how i got this just showed up in bloods cant be very serius as i dont go back till week tues to get bloods done aldo urine sample will ask when i go about it xx

I've never heard of a 'dry kidney'. I wonder if it means that you're dehydrated. I know some of the drugs we take for RA can leave us dehydrated. I think this hot humid weather doesn't help as it can cause sweating if you are being physically active. I find that if I exert myself I end up with sweat literally pouring down my face. I hope you can get some good advice Sylvia. If you are at all concerned then maybe you should give the nurse a call. Good luck and please keep us posted on any developments. Naomi, X

i've not heard of this either,

i drink about 2 litres of water a day ( started this when i lost a lot of weight 4 years ago it was part of my Plan ) then of course i have cups of tea and sometimes a glass of fresh orange/

thanks folks, receptionist, just said that doc said i had a dry kidney and to drink more, i asked her what it was and she didnt know ive to take urine sample next tues when i go for my bloods, so dont think its very cerius or they would have had me in this week my last urine sample was normal so must be something to do with bloods i do drink a lot of water and tea drink bottled water all the time will keep you posted xxx

Hi, you are very good drinking so much water. I do try every so often, but am not good at sticking to my plans especially in cold weather. I do though always try to take tablets with water, figure it washes them down better. Strange this dry kidney, never heard the term before but hope you get back to normal soon.

i phoned and spoke with doctor this morning, he said that as we get older our kidneys dont work so well my bloods showed that i was bit dhidrated so ive to drink more water he said no need to panic hopefully by my bloods next week should be back to normal, i told him i was not impressed by the call on friday at 5 15 when i couldnt ask about it hopefully will be back to normal soon. will keep you all posted he said dry kidney was a old term for not drinking eneough lol im only 65 xx

Goodnress me- they do like to scare us don't they! You seem to drink a lot more than I do (water anyway!).

i have always drank water i have dermatitice since childhood and any kind of ginger or delute drink coused my skin to break out so was always a water drinker lol
take soda water in my vodka though lol xxx

hi sylvia, i drink lots of water i put a slice lime in or lemon,just wondered if you getting it hot up there as you could be sweating alot and we dont really think about it but even a little heat with ra can make us glow,my sister is in symington and she said there was heat for a bit,hope you sort it,i am in suffolk now and end up like a beached whale under the fan in the summer,with a constant jug of water in the fridge,dorothy

its more muggy here rain then sun, in afternoon but breeze of sea cools a bit but night is very warm bottle water always by bed lol also bottles water in fridge also put ice in it
its getting bit cooler now sylvia xxx

where would we be without our water,it used to be a wee beer for me if i was hot(not in the night) back in the day LOL but there you go,it still very warm here more so feel it at night as you say,i am at that age now so i get so hot,i was a hot kid shorts n t shirt all year, when we moved here it took 10yr before i wore a jacket in winter,used to it now and do wear a coat been here 18yr and still not a native,oh so tough,now if i visit north i freeze even in the summer, fingers crossed sylvia,take care,dorothy
